Adam Howard
I'm Adam, currently a software engineer at Amazon Ads.
New York CityAbout
The past 5 years of my professional career have been with Amazon. I first joined Amazon Web Services (AWS) to build a secure, cross-domain network protocol and fully designed and launched a corresponding AWS service console. After two years I joined AWS CloudTrail, and globally launched critical dataplane systems to support traffic in excess of 300k network requests/second with five 9s of availability (in a single region!)
I also contributed to internal adoption of Rust and built core libraries required for all AWS services. More recently, I've joined Amazon Ads in NYC to focus on building products closer to consumers.
Projects
I primarily focus on engineering in a professional setting now, but my start in programming came from a passion for game development. Below are a few small projects from over the years.
TinySketch
A drawing tool for Google Chrome, featured by Google on the front page of the Chrome Web Store multiple times with more than 2 million lifetime installs.
R^3 (Rinse, Rewind, Repeat)
A first person platforming game where the only way to solve puzzles is by rewinding time and collaborating with your clone.
First person movement engine
A demo of first person, parkour movement mechanics built with Unreal Engine.
iMessage Bot
A minimal server for MacOS that processes incoming iMessages and offers a framework for message ingestion and response automation.
Writing
I plan to ocassionally share my thoughts and opinions on software engineering and technology here.
